2005 BUILDING PROJECT

2005 This is year two for Ames High School at the Tororo Parents Secondary Girls School
This year we constructed a dormatory building capable of housing 60 students.

We had a lot of local helpers as seen here at the work sight.

Students work hand and hand with local tradesmen. Here a student bands a rafter for the construction of a roof truss.

Lumber purchased in Tororo being carried to the rafter assembly area.

The work sight is kept busy with the cooperation of the students who are kept on task with the vision of the completion of this years project.

Here we see the roof assembly in place. What looks like burnt wood is actually a pitch applied to protect the timbers from the African termites. The wall construction in this region is always made of brick, this is due to the ever present African termites. Those little bugs could eat the entire school in one year!

In the last few days of this years project students have the satisfaction of seeing the roof go on the dormatory building they funded and helped build for the school.
